HISTORY

Abadir is a Fine Arts Academy founded in 1992 by private initiative, with the specific aim of training specialists for the restoration and the conservation of Cultural Heritage. The Academy is legally recognized by Decree N° 277, 21.04.1993 and it issues, therefore, an Academic Diploma, equivalent to a First level Bachelor Degree. In October 2005 Abadir obtained by the former Ministry for Education, now MIUR – Ministry of Education and Research – the approval to restructure its educational programs and generate a new manifesto capable of creating a modern school with desirable effects in social and cultural context.

After almost twenty years after its foundation, the Academy is facing a new phase of renovation in order to reshape the graduate programs, to activate post-graduate courses and promote several others activities designed to produce dissemination of culture and ideas. Abadir educational program is structured as an “educational plot”, a system in which traditional disciplines are connected with other disciplines and activities in order to create a dynamic laboratory school, competitive at national and international level, able to deal with the changing and increasingly specialized requirements necessary in today’s job system. Hence the project, promoted by the director Lucia Giuliano,  of transforming ABADIR into a broad-spectrum glocal institution dedicated to education, research and experimentation.

Since 2011 ABADIR became member of ELIA), the European Association of Academies of Art, which boasts more than 350 accredited members from 47 different countries.
