DESIGN LABORATORY 2

The course aims to provide tools for the recognition, graphic rendering and design of architectural spaces within existing contexts, which are varied according to design “site specific” installations. Determining the meaning of designed spatial environments is also developed over the course of additional workshops, where external designers follow and inspire design choices made by students.
GRAPHIC DESIGN 2

In this course, students learn basic concepts needed to take on the planning process of a visual communication design object, in phases ranging from conceptualization to representation, to design development, to realization. It also introduces them to both theoretical knowledge and knowledge of planning methods that enhance proficiency in visual communication design.
TECHNICAL AND DESIGN DRAWING 2

The course aims to stimulate the student towards a progressive transition from the explorative dimension of the drawing – the observation of the reality of the forms – to the abstract dimension of representation. Through observation, perception, description of the true, free-hand design, the goal is therefore to foster students’ aptitude for an analytical and geometric perspective on reality. Thanks to the aid of technical drawing – orthogonal projections and assonometries – the goal is instead to represent scientifically a graphic notation of an intuitive perception.
DIGITAL MODELING TECHNIQUES

The aim of the course is two-fold; to provide students with the skills necessary to handle advanced 3D modeling techniques using the mathematical representation method, and to allow them to see the function of drawing a means of direct observation of the world around us, through the study of illustration techniques, color and layout theory, as well as the study of the human figure and objects.
DESIGN SYSTEM

Students take part in a design experience aimed at having them understand the notion of design system, specifically the uncovering of processes that determine the multifactoral quality of an outcome. Identifying business strategies is the ability to define the product system in such a way as to determine the relationship between the different phases of design / realization / sales / consumption in an open, dynamic and continuously adaptable system.

HISTORY AND PRINTING OF PUBLISHING (GRAPHICS)

The course covers the birth of the typographical process and its fundamental role in the cultural, social and economic evolution of our civilization; the development of writing through the great figures in the history of printing, equipment and materials, the features of the book-object, its relationship with mass media. A specific goal is to guide the student in developing a method of investigation and research that allows him/her to deal with texts and artifacts in which verbal, visual, and spatial components are closely related.
TYPOLOGY OF MATERIALS 2

This course focuses on the study of both polymeric and composite polymer-matrix materials. It is comprised of lessons emphasizing theory, workshops aimed at the sampling and testing of materials, and visits to local companies specialized in the processing of plastic materials and composites. It thus offers students the possibility of coming into contact with companies operating in the field of national / international design.

The purpose of the course is to give students a working knowledge of the language to enable them to understand and interact over the course of their studies and to meet the demands of each course and specific topics addressed. The language, structures, and grammar that are worked on during the course are a pre-requisite for level B2 or B1.

HISTORY OF DESIGN

The course moves from developments in design to the third stage of the industrial revolution by analyzing current processes to return to previous phases, following developments up to the present situation. It strives to provide historical-critical knowledge useful for working in the increasingly complex field of design, examining its current relationship with technology and the development of sectoral and territorial economies in the global market.
