ABCD E… Fellini
A dreamlike primer on the Rimini-born director

ABCD E… Fellini it is a visual communication campaign created in collaboration with the Fellini Museum in Rimini as part of the Art Direction module of the Master CVAD.

Under the guidance of teachers Bárbara Ermeti and Sergio Menichelli, students have created a typographic-figurative primer of the Fellinian imaginary, inspired by the films of the Rimini-born director and the key concepts of his poetics.

In this project, typography and images interact to visually convey concepts of varying degrees of abstraction – Circus, Desire, Lights, Voice – or memorable characters such as Gelsomina and Zampanò.

Each participant focused on a single word and its corresponding initial, developing a diptych of posters: one typographic, with the letter reinterpreted in its form and structure until it became the bearer of the concept itself, and a visual synthesis poster, made of photograms, drawings or original images, reworked through collage, overlapping, juxtaposition and graphic manipulation.

«There are many ways to approach Fellini. The one chosen by these boys and girls was to start with words and let them become images. For a few days the museum became a space for work and discussion, and the posters that resulted from it tell of a living dialogue with Fellini's imaginary»

– Marco Leonetti
Fellini Museum Director

The works were exhibited in the cloister of the Gambalunga Library, near the entrance of the municipal Film Library, almost as if to ideally continue the dialogue between the city's places of memory and the perspective of a new generation of designers.
