At Abadir, you have the opportunity to study under the guidance of faculty from around the world. The faculty is comprised entirely of professionals with expertise in their respective fields, ensuring an approach to the various disciplines that is closely intertwined with the dynamics of the contemporary workplace.

Academic Year 2025–2026

MAKOTO FUKUDA

After graduating and completing his MFA at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts, he joined the Miralles Tagliabue EMBT studio from 1996 to 2016, working on major projects for the city of Barcelona and internationally. Since 2006, he has collaborated with architect Toyo Ito, developing projects in Europe and South America.

DIEGO EMANUELE

An architect with a PhD in design, he is the founder and creative director of Studio Forward, an architecture and design studio whose projects range from interior design to exhibition design, retail design, communication, and physical branding. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Palermo since 2008.

MELANI DE LUCA

Melani De Luca is a designer, researcher, and artist. Her work is a critical reflection on contemporary cultural phenomena and their impact on society. In 2017, she published her first book, Post-Butt, The Power of the Image, with Onomatopee, Eindhoven. She is currently a PhD candidate in Design Sciences at IUAV, with research on the work processes in visual identity projects and their potential extension through artificial intelligence.

VINCENZO CASTELLANA

Vincenzo Castellana works on architecture, design, and communications projects. Director of the Master's program in Strategic Design and Creative Direction at Abadir, he is an adjunct professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan and previously taught the Master's program in Design Management at IULM. He received a Compasso d'Oro / Honorable Mention in the Business Research category. In 2008, he founded ADI Sicilia with Vanni Pasca, with whom he began nearly twenty years of work promoting the productive and educational values ​​of design.

JOSEPH AREZZI

Born in Ragusa in 1993, after graduating in Interior Design from the Polytechnic University of Milan, she collaborated for several years with several renowned design studios in the city. In 2017, she founded her own studio, which addresses the domestic challenges of contemporary living through adaptable and replicable products that address the practical needs of everyday life. MAURO MAUGERI

Mauro Maugeri is a creator of commercials and documentaries. He oversees all aspects of production, particularly writing, directing, and photography. Since 2005, he has been an active member of the Scarti Cultural Association, which has been involved in the production and distribution of short films for years. He won a special mention in the "I LOVE GAI" section of the 73rd Venice Film Festival. Over the years, he has collaborated with RAI, Mediaset, Fondazione Vodafone Italia, and Eni-Snam.

STUDIO GUM

StudioGUM is a Ragusa-based interior design and planning studio, founded in 2009 by architects Valentina Giampiccolo and Giuseppe Minaldi. Their work exposes the essence of places through an archaeological process of subtraction, establishing ever-new rules and engaging in contemporary dialogues. StudioGUM's projects have appeared in leading Italian and international publications, including Interni magazine, Elle Décor, Vogue, and AD.

ENRICO GISANA

Graphic and motion designer and co-founder of GG-OFFICE with a strong focus on typography. After studying at IED in Milan and collaborating with various companies, including ZERO and Cromazoo, he decided to return to Sicily. In 2019 and 2022, some of his animation works were selected for the Demo Festival, an event organized by Studio Dumbar, which brings together designers from around the world in Amsterdam.

MAURO BUBBICO

He was born in Montescaglioso (MT), where he has lived and worked as a graphic designer since 1986. He graduated from the scenography course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. He collaborated with Mario Cresci in Matera. From 1999 to 2006, he was an AIAP advisor. He teaches at the ISIA in Urbino. Since 2017, he has been a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale).

ROCCO ROSSITTO

A Communication & Marketing Manager, for twenty years he has been moving within (and beyond) the broad scope of communications: print newspapers, radio, blogs, communities and social media, online advertising, content marketing, strategy, training, and public speaking. Always without a precise map, but with a firm compass: doing to understand, not understanding to do.

RAPHAEL BUCCHERI

Education: Architect. Occupation: Editor and editorial graphic designer at LetteraVentidue. Interests: architectural history, design, science fiction, and cooking. He graduated from Syracuse University, where he collaborated with the NOWA studio on design competitions, project research, and event coordination with “Erremix.” Since 2016, he has organized architecture, art, and design tours with “NoHoleNoBears.”

GIULIA COLLETTI

Giulia Colletti is a digital content curator and ancillary activities consultant at the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art. From 2018 to 2021, she was a member of the curatorial board of the 19th Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d'Europe et de la Méditerranée. In 2019, she was a Visiting Lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art. She has lectured at numerous institutions and universities, including Kingston University in London; Columbia University (CAMS) in New York; La Sapienza University in Rome; IUAV in Venice; and NABA in Milan. At ABADIR, she teaches History of Modern and Contemporary Art in the undergraduate degree program and Curating and Mediterranean Studies in the first-level Master's program Mater Matuta. Her writing has appeared in CURA, Flash Art, and OnCurating, among others.

PAOLO CASICCI

Paolo Casicci is a journalist, content curator, and design professor. After working for fifteen years for the newspaper La Repubblica, in 2019 he founded the communication studios The Design Cut and DigiTale We Share Design, through which he creates editorial content for some of the most important Italian and international design brands. With the web magazine Cieloterradesign, founded in 2015, he narrates and disseminates design culture. He writes for specialized magazines and teaches at Rome's leading universities and design academies. A member of the ADI Lazio board of directors, he believes in communication not as mere dissemination, but as a form of accomplished design to build new meaning.

MARCO EMANUEL FRANCUCCI

He studied architecture in Florence and Vienna. At the Department of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture at the Technical University of Florence, he was an assistant on several research projects and coordinated several workshops. He is an avid designer in the residential and contract sectors.

FRANCESCO SCAGLIARINI

Francesco Scagliarini is a partner at Studio FM Milano, a studio specializing in graphic design and the creation of visual identities, exhibitions, signage, exhibitions, installations, and digital experiences in diverse fields such as culture, architecture, art, design, institutions, and industry. Scagliarini is a designer specializing in editorial design, visual communication, and wayfinding design. He teaches at the Polytechnic University of Milan and the ABADIR Academy of Catania.

GIANLUCA MONACO

He is an Interaction Designer and Frontend Developer. In 2014, he co-founded the Studio Super Santos collective, joined the Lava Design team in Amsterdam (NL) in 2015, and has been a freelancer without a fixed base since 2016. His personal research focuses on exploring the internet as an artistic medium, through code experiments and social media performances.

GIACOMO BOFFO

Giacomo Boffo is a Bologna-based designer specializing in digital, editorial, and branding design for the culture, art, and design sectors. He has collaborated with studios such as Folch e Apartamento (Barcelona) and Blanco (Reggio Emilia). He teaches at IED (Milan), the Quasar Institute (Rome), and the ABADIR Academy (Catania), where he also serves as Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Visual Communication and Art Direction, as well as a Brand Design instructor.

ELISEA PAULINUS

Elisea is a Sicilian designer with a background in graphics and UX/UI design.
Former Abadiriana, over the years she has developed a strong passion for technology and innovation, which today leads her to lead the design department of I MY, the only company specialized in Web3 in Sicily.
In April 2024 he founded The Ragusaner Together with Virginia Boncoraglio and Sara Cigna, a fictional magazine that showcases the province of Ragusa through art. The project aims to showcase local and international artists, with the goal of creating connections and activating the region.

MASSIMO SIRAGUSA

Massimo Siragusa is a photographer and Editorial Director of Phaos Edizioni. His photographs are held in the permanent collections of the Vatican Museums, the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, the Mart in Rovereto, and the Museum of Rome in Trastevere. He has collaborated with numerous public institutions and private foundations on editorial and exhibition projects, and his corporate work has captured the identity of many of Italy's most prestigious companies. He is the author of twelve books and the winner of four World Press Photo Awards and three Sony Awards. He lives between Rome and Catania.

ERIKA PINO

A graduate of Industrial Design from the University of Palermo and Information Design from the Design Academy of Eindhoven, after her experience in the Netherlands, she returned to Sicily in 2019 and became Art Director of Studio Forward, where she is now a partner. A fervent researcher before a designer, books are her passion, which is why she has been the art director of Forward Edizioni (a side project of Studio Forward) and Topic Edizioni since 2023.

Studio Dumbar

Studio Dumbar/DEPT® is an international creative agency based in Rotterdam, specializing in visual identity, motion design, creative coding, and sound design. They collaborate with major corporations, such as the Dutch Railways and Utah Jazz, as well as cultural institutions, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses.
In 2019, the studio created DEMO, the world's largest motion design festival, which takes place annually in Amsterdam.

MUT Studio

Studio Mut is a design studio based in Bolzano, founded by Thomas Kronbichler and Martin Kerschbaumer. It focuses on graphic design projects, visual identity systems, digital products, exhibitions, and installations, combining contemporary aesthetics with local culture and identity. Thomas and Martin have collaborated with various companies, cultural institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Communication Arts magazine has called their designs "rebellious," and AIGA Magazine has dubbed them the "poster kings."

Founded in Milan in 2014 by Claude Marzotto and Maia Sambonet, the studio operates in the fields of editorial graphics, cultural communication, and education. Clients include 10CorsoComo, Assab One, Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Elpis, Gufram, MAAT Museum Lisbon, Humboldt Books, marinonibooks, PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, and Triennale Milano.

WANDERLUST VISION

Wanderlust Vision is a Milan-based creative agency that explores the intersections of fashion, food, design, music, art, and tourism with a contemporary aesthetic approach, through experiences, event curation, branding, and audiovisual content production.

Silvio Lorusso

Silvio Lorusso is an Italian writer, artist, designer, and researcher based in Rotterdam.

Author of the book Entreprecariat (Krisis Publishing, 2018), his work focuses on the cultures and rhetorical regimes of techno-social systems and the tensions surrounding the concepts of work, productivity, autonomy, self-design, entrepreneurship, precarity and failure.

Quim Marin

An art director and designer born in 1979, he began his professional career in 1998 and in 2013 founded his own studio in Barcelona, ​​intent on creating his own visual universe and launching his style worldwide. Quim has worked for brands such as Apple, Google, Adobe, FIAT, Adidas, and Oppo. He has held conferences and workshops in Chile, Mexico, Spain, and Russia. His posters are exhibited at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Jacopo Pompilii

Jacopo Pompilii is UX Design Lead at PagoPA SpA, a public company responsible for designing and managing some of the country's key digital infrastructures, with the goal of making public services increasingly user-friendly and responsive to people's needs. Since 2020, he has been on the Product & Design team, responsible for the user experience of the pagoPA payment platform, currently used by over 43,5 million citizens and businesses, and of IO, the public services app—awarded the ADI Compasso d'Oro in 2022 and used by an average of 5,3 million users per month.
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Milan with a thesis on cashless companies, Jacopo has gained experience since 2015 collaborating with various national and international companies—such as Porsche, Huawei, Meta, and Poste Italiane—at frog, a global design and consulting firm.

Morgane Vantorre

Morgane VanTorre is a French Graphic and Type Designer based in Paris.

His interest in typography is primarily expressed in the development of editorial projects and in experimentation with fonts and lettering. He also works in graphic design, art direction, and web design, occasionally drawing influence from the world of art.

 

Jurgen Bey

Co-founder of the Makkink & Bey studio in Rotterdam, he is one of the most famous contemporary Dutch designers. He was a member of the Droog collective. His practice ranges from objects and furniture to architecture and art and is distinguished by a critical approach to design, based on an in-depth investigation of culture and society. He has received numerous awards, and his works, which transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, have been exhibited in major museums and international exhibitions.

Simone Trum (Team Thursday)

Team Thursday is a Rotterdam-based graphic design studio founded by Loes van Esch and Simone Trum. Their work focuses primarily on editorial, visual identity, and exhibition design, with a particular interest in typography, materials, and the potential performativity of an object.

Searching for patterns in everything around them, they seek to transform them into designs. They regularly teach typography at ArtEZ in Arnhem and organize regular exhibitions and events at their studio. They have collaborated with numerous Dutch cultural institutions and museums.

MARVA GRIFFIN

Founder and curator of SaloneSatellite, an initiative of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, a proven international launching pad for young creatives and universities and design schools from around the world. In 2014, she received the Compasso d'Oro Lifetime Achievement Award. She was Director of International Press for the Salone del Mobile Milano. In 2005, she created SaloneSatellite Moscow as a tribute to young designers from Russia and the former Soviet Union. In 2016, together with the Salone del Mobile Milano Shanghai, SaloneSatellite Shanghai was created as a tribute to young Chinese designers. Since 2001, she has been a member of the Philip Johnson Architecture & Design Committee of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. In March 2014, she was named a WE-Women Ambassador for Expo 2015. In December 2016, she was named Ambassador of Italian Design for the conferences held during “Italian Design Day.”

Stefania Guerra

Stefania Guerra, a graduate in communication design and specialized in data visualization, begins her career in the information design studio accurate, where he explores and applies data visualization in various sectors, collaborating with companies such as IBM, Pentagram, Starbucks, and Conde Nast. Since 2021, he has been an independent information designer and is undertaking a new self-taught training in user experience design. Today, he collaborates as a UX/UI designer with the Digital Transformation Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and teaches data-driven design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan.

Emanuele Bonetti

Emanuele Bonetti (he/him, Lucca, 1985) is a graphic designer. He graduated in Visual Communication from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2008 and earned a Master's Degree in New Media Design from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam in 2010. Meanwhile, he works as a graphic designer between Milan, Oslo, and London. Together with Loredana Bontempi, he founded the communications and visual strategy studio Parcodiyellowstone in 2010 and, in 2018, Belli Gallery, the first Italian gallery entirely dedicated to graphic design. The latter later became Parco Studio and Parco Gallery in 2019.

GIULIA SOLDATI

Giulia Soldati is a designer specializing in food and its cultural, social, and political dimensions. Her work explores conviviality, rituals, and sensory experience. of food, with an emphasis on touch to deepen understanding and awareness.

Camilo Roa (Replica Studio)

Colombian Art Director and Digital Designer based in Barcelona, ​​after graduating in Communication Design from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá) and a Master's in Graphic Design from ELISAVA in Barcelona, ​​he co-founded Réplica Studio with Juan Pablo Mejía, where he works on user experience, interaction design and unconventional digital spaces.

 

I HEAR FIORAVANTI

Graduated in Industrial Design at the Polytechnic University of Milan, he has been working as a product designer since 1998, also experimenting in the field of graphics and exhibition design. 2006? He founded Odo Fioravanti Design Studio, developing projects for various companies, including Flou, Foscarini, LG Electronics, Olivetti, Telecom Italia, Toshiba, and Vibram. His work has received prestigious international awards, such as the Compasso d'Oro ADI for the Frida chair by Pedrali, and has been exhibited internationally. He has taught and lectured at numerous design schools and academies, including the Milan Polytechnic, the University of Venice, the University of San Marino, the Istituto Marangoni, Domus Academy, and HEAD Geneva. In 2010, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan hosted his solo exhibition, "Industrious Design." He is a member of the Advisory Council of the President of the School of Design at the Milan Polytechnic and a Global Design Advisor for LG Electronics.
