The SaloneSatellite will also present Waterschool South, Sicilian spin-off of the Water School: an educational project co-curated by Andrés Fredes, created in partnership with the Dutch studio Makkink & Bey focused onstrategic importance of water as a finite resource, to raise awareness and trigger processes that stimulate cultural, academic, and scientific progress to improve the quality of life in the South.
Waterschool South will involve local actors to imagine possible responses to Sicily's multifaceted challenges, which include issues such as desertification, growing tourism and its conscious management, forest fire prevention and sustainable use of water resources, and will kick off with a Summer School, a seven-day immersive experience taking place in Sicily.
